What is an electronic magnifier?
How does an electronic magnifier work?
One puts the object to be magnified on the reading table, for example a piece of text. This object will be enlarged and shown on the monitor.
Where can an electronic magnifier be used?
An electronic magnifier can be used at home, at work or at school - amongst other locations of course.
When do I qualify for an electronic magnifier?
You qualify for an electronic magnifier when you have a significant loss of vision, rendering reading without an aid practically impossible.
Who use the Affinity, Ergo and Solido electronic magnifiers?
People who have such poor vision that glasses or handheld magnifiers do not give adequate support. Apart from that, people who suffer from Macula Degeneration, Retinitis Pigmentosa, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma and cataract also make use of electronic magnifiers.
Will my insurance cover the costs of an electronic magnifier?
Yes, your insurance covers for the costs of an electronic magnifier in full; unless your insurance policy states otherwise. In order to qualify for this, the electronic magnifier needs to be prescribed by an expert in the field that your insurance agency approves of.
What must the application consist of?
First of all, it must contain a reasonable argument why you need the device, along with your medical data. The prescriber is usually your treating physician ,an eye doctor, or is someone working at a low vision centre. An electronic magnifier can rarely be prescribed by your GP.
Do all insurance agencies refund the Van Lent Systems electronic magnifiers?
Many insurance agencies refund the Affinity, Ergo and Solido electronic magnifiers. You can find a survey of all insurance agencies on this website at the Affinity / Ergo / Solido section. If the logo of your health insurance agency is not present there, it is certainly worth the effort to contact your health insurance agency if something can be arranged.
Where do I find a good prescriber?
Usually your GP will refer you to an eye doctor or other expert. In the Netherlands, there are several regional institutions where a lot of your questions can be answered on electronic magnifiers. At these institutions, also referred to as low vision centers, you also have the opportunity to try out our electronic magnifiers. You will also get a thorough explanation on the controls.

Can I come and take a look at Van Lent Systems' products?

How can I pass on a change of address?

Can I write underneath the Looky?
You can simply tilt the Looky's handle backwards into the special writing position. When you now place the handle flat on a surface, the Looky itself rises up at an angle. You can use the available space to, for example, sign a check.
How much does the Looky weigh?
They Looky only weighs a mere 200 grams and is the lightest handheld electronic magnifier around. The Looky can even be carried in your pocket, purse or briefcase easily so you can take it with you wherever you go.
Can I replace the batteries myself?
Yes, the Looky is equipped with rechargeable batteries that you can easily replace yourself. We have even modified the Looky so that the batteries can only fit 1 way, so you will never have to worry about the + and - of batteries when dealing with the Looky. You will also receive a charger with the Looky so that you can charge the batteries while they are inside the Looky.
Where can I use the Looky?
The Looky is ideal for using indoors as well as outdoors, but especially comes in handy when going out to the supermarket, shops, restaurants, etc.
What does the Looky Support do?
The Looky Support is an accessory to the Looky, especially designed to help you read while using the Looky. The Support will keep the Looky at a certain height so that you can read at your preferred enlargement while keeping the Looky steadily on the flat surface.
Does my insurance cover the costs of a Looky?
Yes, the purchasing cost of an electronic magnifier will be covered in full by your health insurance agency; unless your insurance policy states otherwise. In order to qualify for a refund, the magnifier needs to be prescribed by a low vision expert that your insurance agency approves of.
Procedure
Usually your GP will refer you to an eye doctor or a similar medical expert. In the Netherlands there are several regional institutions where several experts can advise you on all possible low vision aids, including handheld electronic magnifiers. What causes stress incontinence?
Stress incontinence usually coincides with weakened pelvic muscles, for example as a cause of overweight, after child birth or after abdominal surgery. Among women, a shortage of the female hormone estrogen can cause the contraction muscles of the bladder to function less efficiently. This especially occurs after the menopause. Issues with the uterus may also lead to stress incontinence.
Is incontinence treatable?
For many forms of incontinence, the right kind of examinations can lead to a personalized treatment schedule and may lead to a complete cure, or acceptable results. It is important that you admit you may suffer from incontinence so that you can go to a doctor and get yourself examined.
There are different ways to treat stress incontinence. Active training of the pelvic muscles is usually the first way to start treatment, and can help prevent future invasive surgery. This type of treatment usually works with the help of EMG-biofeedback equipment.
Indication
You qualify for a Biofeedback device when this is prescribed by a medical expert. Your health insurance agency must approve of this expert. Usually these experts are pelvic physiotherapists, incontinence nurses, urologists and gynecologists.
What results have been achieved with the Incomove?
After only 3 months, training with the Incomove has had an average of 75% improvement and reduced the need of incontinence material. The Incomove offers individual training programs for women, but can also be used by men and children.

How does a bedwetting alarm work?
When a bit of urine is absorbed by the child's underwear, the sensors connected to the underwear will sound a loud alarm noise, which makes the child wake up. The child can finish urinating on the toilet.
During the first few weeks, the child will be woken by the alarm, but after some time, the child will learn to associate the feeling of a full bladder with waking up.
What age does my child need to be in order to get my health insurance to pay for a bedwetting alarm?
The bedwetting alarm can be used from the age of 7 onwards. The bedwetting alarm may be used at an earlier age, but it is advised that your child is at least 6 years old. It is important that your child is properly motivated in ending the bedwetting.
Will my insurance agency cover the costs of a bedwetting alarm?
The purchasing costs of a bedwetting alarm are only covered by a few health insurance agencies. The costs for renting a bedwetting alarm are covered by your health insurance agency either partially or in full; depending on your insurance policy. In order to qualify for a refund, you need a prescription from your GP or specialist.
I want to purchase my own bedwetting alarm, is that possible?
Van Lent Systems has bedwetting alarms for rental purposes and for purchasing. Depending on your needs, you can either rent or buy a bedwetting alarm from us.
Who will deliver the bedwetting alarm?
The bedwetting alarm will be delivered to you by TNT postal services (the Netherlands) and can fit through your mail box.

Is nerve stimulation harmful in any way?
No, nerve stimulation (or TENS) has no harmful side effects on either short term or long term basis, assuming you adhere to the safety precautions.
Are the costs of TENS devices covered by my insurance agency?
Yes, TENS as a pain relief therapy is fully covered for by your health insurance; unless your insurance policy states otherwise. In order to qualify for a refund, you must first complete a successful trial period. Only then can TENS be prescribed to you by a specialist (your health care agency needs to approve of this specialist in order to refund the costs).
Where will I find someone to prescribe TENS?
Your GP will refer you to a hospital. After going through a trial period, your treating physician can file an application at Van Lent Systems for a refund for a TENS device.
How long will the trial period last?
A trial period will last from 2 weeks to 2 months. During this trial period you will be guided by medical specialists to try out and see if TENS therapy has positive effects on your pain.
Are the electrodes, plasters, gels, etc. I need also covered for by my insurance?
Yes, these products are covered for by your insurance, with the exception of extra batteries and the battery charger.
Who will deliver my TENS device?
The TENS device will be delivered to you (a signature is needed for acceptance of the device) by TNT (the Netherlands). When a package cannot be delivered to you, it will be presented to you at a later time. Such packages will not be handed to your neighbors.
How long will it take before I get my order of new electrodes?
When you place your order before 15.00 o'clock, we will ship it to you the same day. Usually you should receive your order within 1 or 2 days.
I'm not using my TENS device anymore, how can I return it?
Wrap the case with the device, spare cables, unused electrodes and batteries in paper. At the postal office you can ship the package either as standard or expedited.
What should I do if there is something wrong with my TENS device?
